Who knew that the world of Image Consulting and Web Design were so tightly inter-connected? Six months ago I had decided that web sites were a waste of time! My previous web site was just out there, lost, with the billions of others.....I was a just picture and some text floating in cyber space. Then, an unexpected chain of events took place and by chance I found Gretchen.  After just one telephone conversation with her I finally understood that there was so much more I could offer my wonderful clients.  In addition, I could also present potential clients with the opportunity to get to know me and the services I offer, without any obligation.

As an Image Consultant I am constantly reminding people that our visual impact is important.  It took an extremely creative web designer to remind me the same philosophy applies to a web site! With one click of a mouse, an individual will decide if they want to know more, or not? People often tell me that we should NOT be judged on the way we look. Should we? No. Will we continue to be? Yes.  Be it people or a web site, with one quick glance, or one quick click, we will make a significant decision if what we see is Credible, Efficient, Trustworthy and Likeable. Because of that initial visual impact, it is vitally important that we harmonize our appearance, or a web appearance, with our abilities and values. The information we obtain with our eyes is the universal element of non-verbal communication. No translation required wherever you are in the world.

Alison Lurie, an early pioneer in visual impact, wrote in her book: " Long before I am near enough to talk to you on the street, in a meeting, or at a party, you announce your age, and position to me through what you are wearing - and very possibly give me important information (or misinformation) as to your occupation, origin, personality, opinions, tastes and current mood. You do the same to me. By the time we meet and converse we have already spoken to each other in an older, more universal tongue".
